§ The Prime MinisterWe are strongly committed to preventing the proliferation of all types of weapons of mass destruction. We shall pursue this vigorously through maintaining and strengthening the relevant treaties (Non-Proliferation Treaty, Chemical Weapons Convention, Biological Weapons Convention) and international export control regimes (Nuclear Suppliers Group, Missile Technology Control Regime, Australia Group).
We have also made clear our commitment to the goal of the global elimination of nuclear weapons and our commitment to press for multilateral negotiations towards mutual, balanced and verifiable reductions in such weapons. We will be considering how best to implement these commitments, particularly in the context of the Strategic Defence Review.
