To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what estimate she has made of the effect on(a) a single retirement pensioner and (b) retirement pensioner couple of reducing VAT on domestic fuel from 8 per cent. to 5 per cent., taking into account the effect of the subsequent annual uprating of pensions and benefits. Pensioners' fuel bills vary considerably. We expect any reduction in VAT to be reflected in their fuel bills.
