§ Mr. AncramIn 1995–96, enrolments in primary schools were 192,747 and in secondary schools were 151,576.
Expenditure per pupil in real terms was £1,020 in 1979–80 and £1,699 in 1995–96 in primary and £1,591 in 1979–80 and £2,523 in 1995–96 in secondary schools.
