§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonTwo NHS trusts, Central Scotland Healthcare and the Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow, had a retained deficit at the end of 1995–96. In both cases, the deficits occurred as a result of book losses relating to fixed asset disposals. Only one of these trusts, Central Scotland Healthcare, had an in-year deficit—£726,000—in 1995–96.
