§ Mr. HoramLegislation to regulate xenotransplantation will be introduced following due consideration, taking into account the results of the consultation exercise, and when parliamentary time allows. Until then the United Kingdom xenotransplantation interim regulatory authority will be established on a non-statutory basis to oversee xenotransplant developments. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has given a commitment to introduce legislation promptly should he be persuaded that any particular development creates a risk to public health.
