To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if she will list(a) by local education authority in England and (b) in total, the number and percentage of 16-year-olds who left school with fewer than five GCSEs at grades A to C broken down by gender in the last five years for which figures are available. The information requested is not available for 16-year-olds who left school. However, the following table shows the number and percentage of all 15-year-olds—at start of the year—in maintained schools in England who achieved fewer than five GCSEs at grades A* to C, whether they left school or not.
