§ Miss Emma Nicholson
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans the Government have to adopt and adhere to the draft optional protocol to the convention on the rights of the child on the age of recruitment and participation in armed forces. [12355]

§ Sir Nicholas Bonsor
A UN Commission on Human Rights working group is currently meeting to continue drafting the optional protocol. The United Kingdom is participating in negotiations.
It is not yet possible to determine the outcome of those negotiations.
