HC Deb 21 January 1997 vol 288 cc571-2W
Sir Peter Fry

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many cold weather payments have been made during the recent cold spell to recipients in Northamptonshire. [11786]

Mr. Roger Evans

The administration of the social fund is a matter for Peter Mathison, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to my hon. Friend.

Letter from Peter Mathison to Sir Peter Fry, dated 20 January 1997: The Secretary of State for Social Security has asked me to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question requesting information on how many Cold Weather Payments have been made during the recent cold spell to recipients in Northamptonshire. The information is not available in the format requested. Statistics are kept for Benefits Agency (BA) Districts and not by regions. The Northamptonshire District consists of the BA offices at Northampton, Corby and Wellingborough. During the recent cold spell 51,611 automatic payments were issued to those customers covered by the Northamptonshire District. I hope you find this reply helpful.
