§ Mr. Ian Taylor[holding answer 13 January 1997]: Work on these reviews has principally involved existing staff in the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council which is funded from the science budget. BBSRC estimates the total staff and other incidental costs as £240,000. It is not possible to quantify 238W the costs incurred by the several Government Departments involved in the prior options procedures without incurring disproportionate cost.
