To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what is the capital borrowing allocation to Birmingham(a) for 1997–98 and (b) 1996–97.20. [16079]

Mrs. Gillan

Birmingham's annual capital guideline for education for 1997–98 is £1.06 million, and for 1996–97 is £5.38 million.

In addition, the authority has received a supplementary credit approval of £0.1 million for 1997–98, and £1.28 million for 1996–97.
