§ Mr. Soames[holding answer 17 February 1997]Since 1980, 365 claims for damages for nuclear contamination have been made by past and present MOD employees and their relatives. Of these claims 83 are outstanding, one has been settled for £193,000 and the remainder have been repudiated. The yearly breakdown of claims received since 1980 is as detailed:
