§ Mr. StreeterFive non-departmental public bodies have the budgetary power to appoint external consultants. They are all required to report to the Department at regular intervals showing expenditure on external consultants/professional fees. Guidance on best practice on the procurement and management of external consultants is contained in the efficiency unit scrutiny report, "The Government's Use of External Consultants", which is available to all NDPBs.
