Miss Widdecombe

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Richard Tilt to Mr. Chris Mullin, dated 18 February 1997: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about what representations have been received about conditions in the Special Secure Unit (SSU) at Belmarsh. The Prison Service answers many queries from Members of Parliament, prisoners and the general public about conditions in the SSU at Belmarsh prison. The four main issues raised relate to time out of cell, alleged discrimination, visiting arrangements and medical treatment.
