HC Deb 04 February 1997 vol 289 c569W
Mr. Gapes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will instruct the Rail Regulator to ensure that an accurate and up to date routeing guide is published and made available(a) for public inspection at each staffed railway station and (b) to each public library authority. [14092]

Mr. Watts

The routeing guide was introduced on 29 September 1996 for an introductory period until 31 May 1997. It has been made available to station staff, and passengers have a right to obtain details of the routes permitted for their journey.

A revised guide will be issued by the Association of Train Operating Companies at the end of the introductory period and will take account any comments received. At that stage, consideration will be given to how information can be made available to passengers in a readily accessible form.

A copy of the current routeing guide has been placed on the public register of the Rail Regulator and can be inspected at the Office of the Rail Regulator's library.
