To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the longest time it has taken for him to make a decision on a planning appeal submitted to his Department in the past 10 years. [13997]

One hundred and twelve weeks. The inspector's report on the inquiry into the appeal by the British Coal Corporation for opencast mining on land south-west of Llanharan was submitted to the Secretary of State on 17 September 1990 and the decision issued on 19 November 1992.
