HC Deb 04 February 1997 vol 289 c580W
Mr. Darling

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much(a) health authorities and (b) trusts have spent on auditors' remuneration in each year since 1992 in Scotland. [14295]

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The information requested is detailed in the table. It is not, however, possible to identify expenditure split between health boards and trusts prior to 1995–96, therefore the figure given for each year is the audit remuneration for both health boards and trusts. In 1995–96 the Accounts Commission took over responsibility for the audit of the NHS in Scotland.

Year Audit remuneration
£000
1992–93 1,070
1993–94 1,314
1994–95 1,828
1995–96 2,968
