HC Deb 04 February 1997 vol 289 cc573-4W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans he has to ensure that the value of hill livestock compensatory allowance is maintained in real terms; and if he will make a statement. [13922]

Mr. Boswell

Decisions on the rates of hill livestock compensatory allowances are taken each year in the light of the autumn review of economic conditions in the hills and uplands. The review, which involves the farming unions, takes account of a wide range of economic data, including changes in the value of HLCA payments in real terms.
