HC Deb 04 February 1997 vol 289 c602W
Mr. John D. Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many civil servants were located at the Department of Education offices at Rathgael, Bangor in 1992; how many are currently based at these premises; and how many will be able to be accommodated at Rathgael when the proposed building extensions are completed. [13664]

Mr. Ancram

The information is as follows:

Number of staff
Staff located at Permanent Casual Total Date
Rathgael House 604 30 634 1 January 1992
Bangor 473 21 494 1 January 1997

The building currently under construction—estimated completion date spring 1998—is not an extension but rather a replacement of existing sub-standard accommodation. The Rathgael house complex will then be able to accommodate around 500 staff. Teachers salaries and pensions branches—approximately 100 staff—relocated to Londonderry in 1993.
