HC Deb 22 December 1997 vol 303 c507W
Mr. Sawford

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what opportunities will be available for young unemployed people to take up work in the voluntary sector as part of the New Deal. [20170]

Mr. Andrew Smith

The voluntary sector can offer young people work experience under the Employment, Voluntary Sector or Environment Task Force options of the New Deal for unemployed 18–24 year olds. The broad range of voluntary organisations involved in the New Deal will ensure a wide range of opportunities for young people to undertake work of value to their local communities.
