To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will make a statement on the causes of the rail crash at Wrexham General Station on 24 April and place copies of the relevant reports in the Library. [21922]

This accident is still under investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Until HSE's investigation is complete, it would not be appropriate to speculate as to the cause of the accident. Information about this accident will be included in HM Chief inspector of Railways Annual Report for 1997–98.
