HC Deb 22 December 1997 vol 303 cc396-7W
Mr. Gunnell

To ask the Chairman of the Administration Committee what representations she has received relating to alterations in the post marks appearing on House of Commons mail. [21654]

Mrs. Roe

I have received one representation relating to alterations in the postmarks appearing on House of Commons mail. This has been from the hon. Member.

I understand that, on occasions when the machine in the Royal Mail sorting office at Nine Elms which applies the House of Commons frank to mail from the Parliamentary Estate has failed, a franking machine which applies an SW1 frank has been used in order to prevent delays. I am advised that arrangements are now in place for an alternative machine to apply the House of Commons frank under these circumstances.
