HC Deb 22 December 1997 vol 303 c404W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his oral answer of 25 November 1997,Official Report, column 767, what progress he has made in arranging dialogue with the Arab League and the Organisation of African Unity in relation to the Scottish justice system and Lockerbie. [20980]

Mr. Tony Lloyd

We have explained our position in discussions with the Secretaries-General of the Arab League and of the Organisation of African Unity. They know that we stand ready to address any specific concerns they may have about the fairness of a trial in Scotland of the Lockerbie accused. No doubt they will study carefully the report of the United Nations legal experts who visited Scotland in early December.

Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will place in the Library a copy of the report of the UN Delegation to Edinburgh in relation to assessing the Scottish legal system in relation to Lockerbie. [20996]

Mr. Tony Lloyd

A copy of this United Nations report has been placed in the Library today.
