HC Deb 22 December 1997 vol 303 c436W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions how long the GLC Island Block remained empty while in public ownership following the abolition of the GLC; and when, and to whom, it was sold. [22236]

Mr. Raynsford

Following the abolition of the Greater London Council in 1986, County Hall, including the Island Block, was transferred to the London Residuary Body (LRB) who had a remit to dispose of all such surplus property. The whole of the County Hall site was vacated by late 1990, the Riverside Building was sold in October 1993 and the remainder, including the Island Block, was sold to Frogmore Developments plc on 29 March 1995.
