§ Mr. MilburnAn initial Executive Letter EL(96)80 was issued by the National Health Service Executive in September 1996, entitled "Problems arising from the Year 2000 date change" together with guidance on what to do. Copies are available in the Library.
Further advice was issued in October 1997 in the form of EL(97)59 and HSG(97)40, which outlined urgent action to be taken by chief executives of health authorities and NHS trusts in order to prevent problems in systems and equipment which could fail as a result of the Year 2000 date change.
Guidance on managing the risks of year 2000 is being released to all NHS Year 2000 project managers at the end of December 1997.
