HC Deb 22 December 1997 vol 303 c424W
Mr. Hancock

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if the Clapham Deep Shelter still exists. [21398]

Mr. Kilfoyle

I have been asked to reply.

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated under the terms of the Framework Document to the Property Advisers to the Civil Estate. The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster has asked its Chief Executive, Mr. John Locke, to write to the hon. Member.

Letter from John C. Locke to Mr. Mike Hancock, dated 19 December 1997: Your question on the above to The Secretary of State for Defence has been passed to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, who has asked me to reply. Seven Deep Tube Shelters are now managed by Property Advisers to the Civil Estate, PACE. There are three tube shelters at Clapham, they are at Clapham North, Clapham South and Clapham Common. The last two are let for storage, the first is vacant. PACE are at the moment in the process of disposing of all seven Deep Tube Shelters. We have conducted an informal tender and hope shortly to conclude a sale.
