HC Deb 22 December 1997 vol 303 c549W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what measures his Department is proposing to tackle anti-social behaviour; and if he will make a statement. [21396]

Mr. Michael

The Government regard anti-social behaviour and the harassment or intimidation of neighbours as completely unacceptable. The Crime and Disorder Bill contains provisions to enable the police or a local authority to apply for an Anti-Social Behaviour Order prohibiting an individual from behaving in this way. Breach of the order will be a criminal offence.

The Bill also contains provisions for police and local authorities together to identify and tackle local problems of crime and disorder.
