§ Mr. Rooker[holding answer 16 December 1997]: In response to inquiries from butchers and local authorities, the Department's officials have advised that bones are not classified as Specified Risk Material (SRM) under the Beef Bones Regulations 1997, and can be disposed of in accordance with Part II of Schedule I to the Animal By Products Order 1992. Arrangements for actual disposal are a commercial matter between individual butchers and those who collect their waste.
