§ Mr. Redwood
To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is the estimated budget for the year from 1 May for(a) travel and (b) other office costs and expenses for her private office. [21766]

§ Mrs. Beckett
Budgets are allocated on an annual basis for a financial year beginning in April.
The 1997–98 budget in my office for travel and subsistence is £90,000.
Other office costs and expenses, including staff salaries, for the same period total £766,000.

§ Mr. Redwood
To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many official functions of her Department she has held in her official apartment since 1 May. [21767]
