Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if she will request the Police Authority and Chief Constable to review the list of days and occasions when the Union flag is flown over police stations. [20763]

Mr. Ingram

The flying of the Union Flag over police stations in Northern Ireland is a matter to be dealt with by the Chief Constable.

Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what representations the Police Authority for Northern Ireland has made to her about the list of days and occasions when the Union Flag is flown over police stations. [20908]

Mr. Ingram

The Police Authority for Northern Ireland presented its annual report to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State in June 1997; this included details of the Authority's views on the flying of the Union Flag over police stations. The matter was also discussed with the Authority at a meeting on 15 October 1997.
