HC Deb 18 December 1997 vol 303 c313W
Kate Hoey

To ask the President of the Board of Trade by what procedures her Department ensures that the grants which they award to small toy producers to exhibit at trade fairs are spent completely in the interests of the recipient by the British Toy and Hobby Association. [21264]

Mrs. Roche

Grants are paid to the British Toy and Hobby Association, and to other intermediaries, on receipt of a signed claim listing the names of the eligible firms in their group and the amounts owing. We seek confirmation from intermediaries' auditors once a year that all their claims are in order and that moneys have been passed on to eligible firms. We also audit a random sample of events to check that intermediaries like the BTHA have discharged all their obligations to the Department.
