§ Dr. ReidThe Government provide financial and/or personnel support to a number of mine clearance programmes. Because some of these programmes are carried out by international organisations, the information requested is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost. Furthermore, the key measure used in such programmes is not the number of mines destroyed but the size of area cleared.
