HC Deb 18 December 1997 vol 303 cc327-8W
Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what action he is taking in conjunction with the Revenue authorities to monitor the amount of income NHS employees receive from non-NHS sources. [21020]

Mr. Milburn

The Department has in the past commissioned the Inland Revenue to carry out surveys into the earnings of hospital doctors in Great Britain. Surveys were carried out in 1984–85, 1986–87, 1988–89 and 1991–92. The latest of these surveys covers the financial year 1993–94. Consideration is currently being given to future requirements.
