To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the scientists who sit on SEAC indicating other organisations for which they work. [20362]

The table lists the current members of SEAC and the organisations for which they work.

I also refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to our hon. Friend the Member for Cardiff, North (Ms Morgan) on 24 July 1997, Official Report, column 710, which declared SEAC members' commercial and non-commercial interests.

The Spongiform Encephalopathy Advisory Committee Chairman: Professor J. R. Pattison—Professor of Medical Microbiology and Dean of the University College, London Medical School.

Deputy Chairman: Dr. R. G. Will—Consultant Neurologist at Western General Hospital (Edinburgh) and Head of the National CJD Surveillance Unit.

Members: Professor J. W. Almond—Virologist and Professor of Microbiology at the University of Reading. Mr. R. Bradley CBE—Veterinary Pathologist and Chairman of the BSE sub-group of the EC Scientific Veterinary Committee. Professor F. Brown FRS—Virologist and Chemist employed by United States Department of Agriculture.
