HC Deb 16 December 1997 vol 303 cc142-3W
Mr. Duncan Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if those aged under 25 years who lose their entitlement to jobseeker's allowance by refusing to take up any of the four options which have been offered to them under the Welfare to Work scheme will also lose their entitlement to any other benefits they are receiving. [20026]

Mr. Bradley

Young people who are sanctioned because they unreasonably refuse to take up one of the four options offered under the New Deal, will lose their Jobseeker's Allowance but retain passported benefits such as Housing and Council Tax Benefit, and other benefits unaffected by the sanction, such as Child Benefit.
