§ Mr. George HowarthInformation is not collected centrally in this detail. But in the 12 months ending 30 November 1997, a total of 1,211 people visiting prisons were arrested by the police in connection with possible drug-related offences. The Prison Service does not record what action was subsequently taken by the police.
