HC Deb 15 December 1997 vol 303 cc61-2W
Mr. Chidgey

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will(a) list the national paybands for full-time staff in his Department which would represent an hourly rate of £4 or less and (b) list by region as defined by the regional government offices the numbers of staff paid at these rates. [20607]

Ms Jowell

The lowest national payband in the Department of Health ranges from £8,000 to £15,750 a year. Because of differences in hours of work, a rate of £4 per hour for London staff equates to an annual salary of £8,561; outside London the figure is £8,770.
