Letter from Peter Mathison to Mr. Tom Cox, dated 10 December 1997: The Secretary of State for Social Security has asked me to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question asking about the number of people in England and Wales who are receiving mobility allowance. The information is not available in the form requested. Mobility Allowance was replaced by Disability Living Allowance (DLA) in April 1992. DLA comprises of two components, care and mobility. The number of people in receipt of the mobility component of DLA are shown below.
