HC Deb 10 December 1997 vol 302 c548W
Mr. Chaytor

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what assessment he has made of the risk of terrorist activity associated with the United Kingdom's export of mixed oxide fuel. [18496]

Mr. Battle

I have been asked to reply.

Measures designed to minimise the risk of terrorist activity directed against nuclear materials in transit are reviewed constantly in the light of the risk assessments by the government's security experts.

All international movements of nuclear material carried out by the UK comply fully with the requirements of the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and with the international guidelines on physical protection published by the IAEA.
