HC Deb 09 December 1997 vol 302 cc495-6W
Mr. Edward Davey

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will publish the correspondence between his Department and the London Borough of Haringey regarding Alexandra Palace and Park which is of a non-commercial nature. [19734]

Ms Armstrong

Identifying this information from the considerable volume of correspondence with Haringey over Alexandra Palace and Park would be time consuming and could not be undertaken except at disproportionate cost.

In November 1996 the Department gave the London Borough of Haringey directions, allowing an increase in their aggregate credit limit totalling £55 million, in connection with the Council's proposals for establishing the future of Alexandra Palace and Park. The directions are technical measures and do not convey additional financial support. I am arranging for a copy of the directions to be placed in the library.

Mr. Edward Davey

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (1) what proposals his Department has received from(a) the London Borough of Haringey and (b) other interested parties for the closure of Alexandra Palace and Park; and if he will make a statement; [19731]

(2) what financial guarantees his Department has given since 1990 to the London Borough of Haringey with regard to Alexandra Palace and Park. [19732]

Ms Armstrong

None.
