To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how much the Government has spent on advertising (a) on commercial radio, (b) on television and (c) in newspapers in relation to its policy on tuition fees for university students. [17939]

Dr. Howells

The cost for advertising, in relation to the policy on tuition fees for university students, is, for commercial radio, £222,209 and for the national press, £137,831. There has been no advertising on television.
