HC Deb 04 December 1997 vol 302 cc318-9W
Mr. Webb

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what has been the sum given since the commencement of the National Lottery in Northavon; and if he will list the individual awards. [18198]

Mr. Banks

To date 36 awards totalling £1,442,504 have been made to organisations in Northavon. I have arranged for a list to be placed in the Libraries of the House.

Information on Lottery awards is now available on the Department's website www.lottery.gov.uk.

Mrs. Gordon

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (1) what National Lottery distributing bodies funding has been allocated to projects in each parliamentary constituency in the Anglia area; [18355]

(2) what National Lottery Charities Board funding has been allocated to projects in each parliamentary constituency in the Anglia area. [18348]

Mr. Banks

The Department holds Lottery awards information by Government economic region. I have arranged for a table showing the breakdown of awards by constituency in the Eastern region (which comprises Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex but excludes Greater London) to be placed in the Libraries of the House. Figures for the National Lottery Charities Board are included in this table.

Information on Lottery awards is now available on the Department's website www.lottery.gov.uk.

Mrs. Brinton

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what plans he has to amend the National Lottery Act 1993 so that convenience retailers may receive a return of more than 5 per cent. of sales. [18547]

Mr. Banks

The level of retailer commission is a commercial matter for the Lottery operator. The Government is concerned to protect the contribution which the Lottery makes to small retailers and the Director-General of the National Lottery will have this in mind when considering applications for the next operating licence.
