To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the grants given to general practitioner out-of-hours co-operatives and other cover arrangements for each health board area in the financial year 1995–96 and projected expenditure for 1996–97. [40679]

Health boards were allocated totals of £4,967 million and £5.105 million in 1995–96 and 1996–97 respectively to provide for the reimbursement of certain expenses incurred by general practitioners in delivering out-of-hours services.

The totals were distributed between health boards on a per capita general practitioner basis as shown in the table.
