To ask the President of the Board of Trade what plans he has to transfer the responsibility for designing and delivering regional services currently provided by Government Departments or regional offices to business-led partnerships between training and enterprise councils and business links. The Government's new approach to support for business, including the delegation of design and delivery of such support to business-led partnerships at local and sectoral level, was set out in the replies given yesterday by my right hon. Friend the Deputy Prime Minister to my hon. Friend the Member for East Hampshire (Mr. Mates) and my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade to my hon. Friend the Member for Eastbourne (Mr. Waterson).
