HC Deb 16 October 1996 vol 282 cc968-9W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list those train operating companies that have been subject to enforcement action by the Rail Regulator as a result of complaints received regarding improper advice in relation to ticket sales. [40697]

Mr. Watts

The enforcement of train operators' licence obligations is a matter for the independent Rail Regulator. He has recently completed a public consultation on accurate and impartial retailing and will wish to consider the outcome of that consultation before deciding what enforcement action, if any, is warranted.

Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many complaints have been received in each of the last 12 months by the Rail Regulator regarding(a) the sale of tickets and (b) the telephone inquiry service. [40696]

Mr. Watts
