Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list the health service projects in South Yorkshire in respect of which(a) successful and (b) unsuccessful efforts have been made to pursue funding under the private finance initiative since 1 January 1995. [40996]

Mr. Horam

Two projects valued at more than £1 million have received approval under the private finance initiative in South Yorkshire since 1 January 1995. They are: Rotherham General Hospitals national health service trust—concourse development value £1.1 million; Rotherham General Hospitals national health service trust; clinical waste incinerator, value £3.4 million.

Information on unsuccessful schemes and lower value schemes is not held centrally.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what information he has collated regarding expenditure incurred by each health authority and NHS hospital trust in South Yorkshire in unsuccessfully pursuing funding for projects through the private finance initiative since 1 January 1995; and if he will make a statement.
