HC Deb 16 October 1996 vol 282 cc962-3W
Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what discussions he had concerning the re-routing of the marches in the Lower Ormeau road on 9 August and in Derry on 10 September with the local residents and marchers.[40267]

Sir John Wheeler

None. The routing of parades is primarily a matter for the Chief Constable. The RUC met on many occasions with local residents and marchers to discuss individual parades. On occasions, officials also met with these groups. The RUC however, have no records on the dates given of parades at these locations.
