HC Deb 16 October 1996 vol 282 cc955-6W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is his current estimate of the publication date of the investigation into Allied Medicare Ltd.'s discharge of its functions as a registered employment agency, pursuant to the Huw Evans case. [40752]

Mr. John M. Taylor

The information obtained by my Department during its investigation under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 into the supply of Mr. Huw Evans as a nursing auxiliary by Allied Medicare Ltd. cannot be disclosed without the consent of the persons concerned in consequence of section 9(4)(a) of the Act. A copy of my letter of 15 October 1996 to the hon. Gentleman about this matter is being placed in the Library of the House. The licensing of agencies under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 ceased on 3 January 1995. Agencies supplying registered nurses and certain other persons continue to be licensed by local authorities under the Nurses Agency Act 1957.
