§ Mr. SoamesI assume that the hon. Member is interested in the accident which occurred at RAF Lakenheath on 27 July 1956. On 9 November 1979, the Secretary of State for Defence made a statement about the accident,Official Report, column 321–22. This confirmed that no nuclear materials were involved either within the crashed aircraft or in any of the buildings affected; the US authorities have recently re-confirmed this to have been the case.
