HC Deb 25 November 1996 vol 286 cc49-50W
Mr. Hain

To ask the Lord President of the Council how many(a) full-time jobs, (b) part-time jobs, (c) full-time jobs which are on (i) renewable and (ii) unrenewable fixed-term contracts, (d) part-time jobs which are on (i) renewable and (ii) unrenewable fixed-term contracts, (e) temporary jobs and (f) jobs classified as casual there have been in (1) his Department and (2) executive agencies of his Department for each year since 1992. [5419]

Mr. Newton

The number of full-time posts in the Privy Council Office for each year since 1992 has been as follows:

  • 1992: 32
  • 1993: 33
  • 1994: 38
  • 1995: 38
  • 1996: 38

The increase in 1994 reflects the setting up of a central drugs co-ordination unit reporting to me. There have to date been no part-time posts and no temporary or casual posts, although in the last two years some posts have been filled by temporary or casual staff for short periods and some individuals have worked on a part-time or job-share basis. No staff are employed on fixed-term contracts, either renewable or unrenewable. I am not responsible for any agencies.
