Letter from Tim Holt to Mr. Paul Flynn, dated 21 November 1996:
The Chancellor of the Exchequer has asked me to reply as the Director of the Office for National Statistics to your recent question on mortality rates for multi-drug resistant TB, MRSA, and vancomycin resistant enterococci.Multi-drug resistant TB, and deaths due to MRSA or vancomycin resistant enterococci do not have distinct codes within the revision of the International Classification of Diseases used for encoding death registration data at the Office for National Statistics, and therefore there are no centrally held statistics on deaths from these causes.
